TOG launches a new sustainability-driven creative programme: Makers & Mentors Design-mentorship initiative challenges the next generation of makers to create sustainable furniture and art rooted in social connectivity. TOG worked with POoR Collective to select three exciting young makers currently on the cusp of careers in design and architecture, who would benefit from the programme, while also producing exceptional work for The Black & White Building. Based on their individual skill set, interests, and area of expertise, each of the three students selected has been matched with a mentor to provide guidance and feedback over the creation of their piece. All experienced in the development of sustainable furniture, and each responsible for designing original pieces for The Black & White Building.

installation design with Emma Archer for the launch of Carl Hansen & Son x Ilse Crawford collaboration. The CH24 Wishbone chair in 9 new soft colours inspired by nature and art. Paper flowers by Pom Pom Factory. Film by Dan Joyce.
For ‘A Second Life’ Exhibition by Matter Of Stuff at Sketch London, Furniture designer Matteo Fogale and stylist and costume designer Emma Archer have taken inspiration from traditional tailoring techniques and couture details while using repurposed wooden dowels as both the base structure and the interior of a screen. Using left- over fabrics donated by Kvadrat, the Papillon screen features an organic shape made from repeated segments. Here, the dowels are used as structural elements hidden beneath the fabric while giving the material its pattern and shape.
Curation for Uruguay XXI at the London Design Fair.
For the London design festival, Uruguay showcased products from nine of its homegrown design studios, as part of the London Design Fair. Channelling the work of one of Uruguay’s most-renowned creatives, poet Juana de Ibarbourou, each studio reimagined one of her poems for ‘Poetic Forms: The work of Uruguayan poet Juana de Ibarbourou’.
Juana de Ibarbourou is a literary icon of Uruguayan culture. Recognised in South America as one of the greatest poets, earning her the name ‘Juana de América’. Curated by London-based Uruguayan designer, Matteo Fogale, Uruguay’s contemporary creative studios distilled the work of Ibarbourou into furniture, accessories and textiles in a celebration of the centenary of ‘Las Lenguas de Diamante’, a book that catapulted Juana de Ibarbourou instantaneous success both nationally and internationally upon its publication in 1919.
